Widow Bar Brooch

A large bezel set cubic zirconia in the centre of a silver bar. There is a casting of an Aeonium succulent to one side, which represents someone who has lost their partner and is now on their own.

 

This brooch is from a collection of conceptual works inspired by an antique bar brooch with a large central Citrine stone that I inherited from my paternal grandmother when she passed away. This style of brooch dates back to the Victorian era and is a common heirloom. I am always captivated by heirlooms and keepsakes and the connection felt when wearing jewellery that carries such significance.

 

The pin is made of gold to emphasise the piercing element.
